PORKCHOP 3D, the third in the trilogy of pig-masked slasher films, was shot entirely in the backwoods of West Virginia in the stereoscopic (or “Real D”) 3D format on a budget of $3000. Starring Kaylee Williams (Slices of Life, Zombie Babies), Sam Qualiana (Snow Shark), Brian Gunnoe (Porkchop, Porkchop 2:Rise of the Rind), and the legendary Danny Hicks (Evil Dead 2, Intruder), Porkchop 3D promises a hellish thrill ride with one of the largest body-counts in slasher history. Prepare to Taste The Grease in 3D!
Porkchop 3D is a fitting end to the Porkchop trilogy. It is not only fitting, but the best one of the three. Director Eamon Hardiman has always been a great writer and while I enjoy the fun that comes with an indie slasher like this, I also enjoy what these wacky characters are saying to one another. So not only do we get blood, hot girls naked, and comedy that is actually funny. We also have some clever dialogue to balance things out. If you can appreciate indie horror films and like either of the first two Porkchops, I am pretty sure you will really enjoy this overall.
Now if I was to nitpick on anything, I do find it odd to see some of the same people from other Porkchop movies playing different roles here. I mostly mean our male lead played by Sam Qualiana. Then again, he does look different and the man is a great actor that plays well with female lead Kaylee Williams and our growing iconic indie comedic legend, Burt Flemming. While the release is in Blu-ray 3D only, you can tell that the film has a great look to it for an indie film and shouldn’t disappoint anyone there either. If you like slashers and you can appreciate lower budget indie films then you need to see the conclusion to perhaps the best indie slasher series to come along in years.
