Longmire is one of the most popular TV shows on the air today, and for good reason. The modern-day Western series, based on the books by Craig Johnson, follows Sheriff Walt Longmire as he navigates his way through the complexities of life in rural Wyoming. Fans of the show are drawn to its unique combination of thrilling crime stories, emotionally-driven drama, and captivating characters. In this blog post, we’ll take a closer look at why Longmire is so beloved and give our thoughts on the show.
Longmire is an American crime drama television series that aired on the A&E Network for six seasons from 2012 to 2017. The show follows Sheriff Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor), the sheriff of Wyoming’s fictional Absaroka County. Longmire is assisted by his deputy, Vic Moretti (Katee Sackhoff), as well as an eclectic group of friends and family. He investigates a variety of crimes in the area while dealing with his own personal issues.
The series begins when Walt Longmire, the widowed sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming, is forced to come out of retirement after his wife’s death. As he returns to work, he must also deal with the political machinations of Cady (Cassidy Freeman), his daughter, who has recently been elected to the county prosecutor’s office. With the help of his deputies Vic Moretti, Ferg (Adam Bartley) and Ruby (Louanne Stephens), and best friend Henry Standing Bear (Lou Diamond Phillips), Walt must balance his duties as sheriff with his need to grieve for his wife and reconnect with his daughter.
The series follows Walt’s attempts to solve crimes throughout the county, often against members of his own community or other criminal elements within the area. In addition, Walt also struggles with his grief for his wife’s death, as well as personal issues such as alcoholism. Throughout the series, Walt is confronted with several dangerous situations, and must make difficult choices in order to save himself, his family and friends, and the people of Absaroka County.
The show is set in the beautiful backdrop of Absaroka County, Wyoming, giving the show an interesting mix of small-town charm and rugged western grit. The main characters are compelling and diverse and they quickly become like family to the viewer. The cases that Longmire and his team take on are intriguing and have suspenseful twists and turns. Every episode contains elements of crime, drama, humor, and romance. There are also deeper themes at play, such as family dynamics and morality, that make the show more than just an entertaining mystery. For viewers who love a good western, Longmire is worth watching for its setting alone. But beyond the beautiful scenery, Longmire offers something for everyone with its engaging characters, unpredictable plots, and thought-provoking themes.

All six seasons of the show come to you on this big 21 disc set from The Warner Archive here. It seems as if they just bunched together all the pervious releases of the show in one set and there isn’t anything wrong with that. The seasons carry over the previous extras from those releases as well.
